Isuzu has a rich and long history. It is the oldest Japanese automotive manufacturer in the automotive scene. Isuzu built their first car in 1916 and the brand has over the years specialized itself as pick-up, truck and engine builder.
Isuzu has been supplying nearly 26 million engines for other brands like the GM group, which is still the case today. Under its own brand name, Isuzu has gradually specialized in pickups and trucks. In 2005, it even became the world’s largest manufacturer of medium and heavy trucks. Currently, they are at their 6th generation of pick-up model. The current D-Max is sold in over 100 countries, including 4 markets in which we operate (Benelux and Poland).
The light commercial trucks represent a smaller business in our portfolio, but with the Isuzu D-Max we are an established player within the niche market of pickups. Isuzu is renowned for its legendary reliability, power and robustness. For example, the D-Max is one of the few cars that can tow up to 3.5 tons. Isuzu recently launched the all new D-Max 2021 with a modern 1.9 diesel engine. This downsizing is pretty revolutionary within the pick-up scene, but Isuzu believes that it is the way to go.
