Our history

Our history goes way back with the import of motorcycles between World War 1 and World War 2. In the sixties, our group started to focus on cars, with the import and even the assembly of BMW cars at our Antwerp location. During the sixties we produced 6 different types of BMW models, amongst which the very popular 300 (Isetta), the 1602 and 2002.

After this era, our car-import branch quickly expanded with brands such as Suzuki, Hyundai and Mitsubishi. Pioneering work was carried out, especially with Suzuki and Hyundai. Our group was the first company to sign a distribution contract for Europe with Hyundai.

In the recent years, we expanded our portfolio with brands like SsangYong, Maxus and Benelli, challenger brands that chose the Alcomotive experience to take care of the distribution in several countries.

Alcomotive as such, is a fairly young company. Early 2017, the former companies Alcadis (4wheels distribution) and Moteo (2wheels distribution) were merged into Alcomotive. Since then, Alcomotive unites the motorcycle- (including scooters) and car-distribution branches. Especially in the back-offices and in terms of general support, a lot of synergies were established.

Ever since, Alcomotive has been a major actor on the import-scene, and now represents 10 brands; on the car/LCV-side we distribute Hyundai, SsangYong, Suzuki, Isuzu and Maxus. As for the motorcycles and scooters, we represent Suzuki (also Suzuki Marine engines), SYM, Derbi, Peugeot Scooters, Askoll and Benelli.
