Astara named distributor of KG Mobility in Portugal
The distribution agreement between KG Mobility and Astara marks an expansion for the Open Mobility Company in the Portuguese market.
KG Mobility will offer low emission vehicles and a broad range of pick-ups and SUVs, a popular segment among Portuguese consumers, including its new Torres SUV.
Lisbon, 15th of April 2024 – Astara, one of the world's leading mobility companies, has been appointed as the importer of KG Mobility (formerly known as SsangYong) vehicles and aftersales in Portugal, expanding the global cooperation between Astara and the brand. Portugal becomes the eighth country in which Astara imports KG Mobility vehicles, with existing operations across two regions (Latin America and Europe) in Chile, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland.
KG Mobility’s new range of low emission vehicles deliver on a growing consumer need in Portugal, a market in which 20% of all passenger cars sold in 2023 were Battery Electric Vehicles and four out of 10 cars sold had a low emission powertrain. The brand also offers modern SUV and pick-up ranges, including the recently launched Torres SUV, which are popular with Portuguese consumers.
This year celebrates the 25th Anniversary of the start of Astara operations in Portugal. It offers a complete system of mobility solutions and this agreement with KG Mobility makes eight brands that Astara currently distributes in the country. Astara passenger car sales in Portugal in 2023 exceeded 9,200 units, reaching 4.7% market share.
